A New Home for Slalom Acoustics in the U.S.
This summer, Slalom Acoustics opened the doors to its new permanent U.S. showroom at The Mart in Chicago—and what a way to open.
Located in Space 10-168, Slalom Chicago is more than a showroom. It is a place to experience Slalom’s approach to acoustic design firsthand: where materials, color, form and performance come together to shape the way we experience a space.
Designed by Gensler Houston with interiors by Teklan, the showroom reflects a dialogue between European and American design cultures. Surfaces interact with light, colors create rhythm and depth, and acoustic solutions become an integral part of the architecture rather than an element added as an afterthought.
The showroom also introduces Slalom’s latest innovations in acoustic solutions, including new products Arlecchino. Designed by Teklan, Arlecchino is an acoustic solution that combines performance, geometry and bold color contrast. Available in a thermoformed 3D version as well as a printed PET felt solution.
Bringing the Slalom community together
To celebrate the opening, Leuk Finishes invited Slalom representatives from across the U.S. to Chicago for a special Sunday preview. It was an opportunity for our rep network to come together, experience the new space and get a first look at the latest Slalom collections.
The following day, Slalom Chicago opened its doors to the design community for NeoCon—and the response was incredible.
Throughout the NeoCon days, the showroom welcomed a steady stream of architects, designers, specifiers and industry professionals. There was a real sense of curiosity and excitement around seeing Slalom’s materials in person, discussing new applications and discovering how acoustic performance can become part of the overall design language of an interior.
A showroom designed to inspire
The space showcases a wide selection of Slalom’s acoustic solutions, including Arlecchino, Kayak, Bloom, CRAFTfelt, ECOrange and Millerighe, alongside newer developments such as SPYKON.
One of the highlights is the new Teklan x Slalom color collection. Developed in collaboration with Swedish colorist and designer Teklan, the palette introduces soft, mineral-inspired tones designed to work naturally within architectural environments. Rather than treating color as decoration, the collection positions it as another tool for acoustic and architectural design.
The showroom also introduces SPYKON, a new acoustic surface designed by architect Giulia Foscari. Its faceted, three-dimensional geometry creates a continuous landscape of prismatic forms, combining acoustic performance with a strong architectural presence.
More than a showroom
For us at Leuk Finishes, the opening of the Showroom of Slalom in Chicago marks an exciting new chapter.
Having a permanent Slalom presence at The Mart gives architects and designers across the U.S. the opportunity to experience the materials, colors and acoustic solutions firsthand. It also creates a place for conversations, presentations, collaborations and, most importantly, the exchange of ideas.
The incredible turnout during NeoCon made one thing very clear: there is a growing interest in acoustic materials that do more than solve a technical requirement. Designers are looking for materials that contribute to the identity, atmosphere and experience of a space.
That is exactly where Slalom’s philosophy of Acoustethics—the balance between acoustics, ethics and aesthetics—comes to life.
